O Christmas Cowichan

Who needs a poinsettia?

This is one of a few new seedlings I brought indoors in early November. They had buds forming in the wrong season, and these likely would not survive winter outdoors. The colour of this garnet Cowichan primrose is a little more blue (purple) or a little darker red (depending on the light) than these pictures show. I made a few attempts, none quite accurate. The plants are sitting in a cold room in the basement under desk lamps, a mix of CFLs and LEDs. When a plant comes into flower, it is brought up to the kitchen where we can admire it and it can bask in the little natural light that comes in the window this time of year.
